1pm: THE Sturt Highway could close intermittently east of Wagga on Monday afternoon to allow crews to recover the car and caravan.
12.15am: TWO people have been taken to hospital with minor injuries after their car and caravan flipped on the Sturt Highway east of Wagga.
A spokeswoman for the NSW Ambulance Service said paramedics assessed a 65-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman at the scene.
The spokeswoman said both were treated for injuries to their hands, with spinal precautions taken on the woman.
Both have been taken to Wagga Base Hospital by road in a stable condition.
The accident occurred about 10.50am on Monday, around five kilometres east of the Mates Gully Road intersection.
The westbound lane of the highway was closed briefly for the safety of emergency personnel on the scene.
It is understood to have since reopened but motorists are urged to exercise caution.
The vehicle is expected to be recovered shortly.
11.30am: AN accident on the Sturt Highway east of Wagga is causing minor disruptions to traffic on Monday morning.
Emergency services are at the scene of a single-vehicle accident involving a car and a caravan about five kilometres east of the Mates Gully Road intersection.
The vehicle has left the road and flipped.
A spokeswoman for the NSW Ambulance Service said paramedics were called to the accident at 10.48am.
Initial reports indicated the two occupants, believed to be aged about 60, were suffering from shock.
According to the Roads and Maritime Service (RMS), westbound traffic on the highway is affected and motorists should exercise caution in the area.
