In 2003 the Tumba Rail group was ensuring the preservation of the Railway Station area in Ladysmith, as well as operating railway section care on a two kilometre section of the track.
Rides on this section were open to the public.
The collapse of insurance companies stalled operations, but now they are back on track.
After countless hours of research and documentation, the group have successfully negotiated with railway authorities allowing them to recommence preservation operations.
Since receiving accreditation from the Independant Transport Safety Rail Regulator and Transport NSW, the group has began retraining their members.
The final step for the Tumba Rail group is to be granted a rail operators licence.
Those interested in joining the group can contact Dick Goodman on 6922 7677 or Mark Pottie 6922 5030.
