Today, Inspector Peter Robinson said the investigation would continue for at least another full day following the death of Mr Willis at his Scott Street home at The Rock.
“We aren’t expecting any real breakthroughs until after the forensic investigation has been completed,” Inspector Robinson said, confirming several interviews have been conducted as a result of the death.
As part of the investigation, the body of Mr Willis has already been sent to Sydney for a post-modem examination, with police preparing a report for the coroner to help determine the cause of death.
Currently, Inspector Robinson said the police have not identified a suspect and confirmed no one has been directly questioned as a result of the unexplained death, initially thought to be the result of a fall.
On Wednesday, at about 11.30am, emergency services responded to a call a man was in cardiac arrest and despite officers performing CPR for 45-minutes, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Earlier today, neighbours were still in shock at hearing of the death of Mr Willis, who had lived in the house for a number of years.
“This week, I saw him mowing the lawns,” a neighbour said.
“It’s terribly sad … he was the kind of guy that always gave you a friendly wave when you saw him in the street.”
