With the last official day of trading on Thursday, Mr Ligakis said the store could open for one final sale next week.
Mr Ligakis said he had seen the industry change in his lifetime, with hardware giants like Bunnings and Masters moving to Wagga.
While Mr Ligakis said he had no hard feelings, this had drastically altered the supply chain, with the big brands having a stranglehold on many products.
"It's part of the changing world, what can we do?" Mr Ligakis said.
"Twenty-five years is enough and the market is getting out of hand," he said.
Saying he had enjoyed operating the family business for so long, Mr Ligakis said it was the Wagga community that drove him.
"We never did it for the money, if it was for the money we would have closed long ago," he said.
Thanking his customers for their ongoing support Mr Liagkis had a few parting words.
"I'm going to miss it."
