TURVEY Park will head into the Riverina Football League season full of confidence on the back of two strong performances in pre-season trials.
The Bulldogs finished an impressive pre-season with a big win over Farrer League club Charles Sturt University at Maher Oval last Friday night.
Turvey Park has welcomed a host of recruits to the club over the off-season and while captain-coach Chris Cerato admits it will take some time to gel, he could not be happier with the early signs.
"We didn't really keep scores to be honest but we showed signs that we'll move the ball pretty well," Cerato said.
"It was pretty much what I expected, we competed pretty well.
"We worked on a few things that we had been doing at training so it showed that blokes have been listening too, which is good."
Chase Grentell was one of the new Turvey Park recruits to impress, spending time at full-forward and also in the ruck.
Jack Brooks showed his class in the two trials in a variety of positions, but Cerato is likely to send the 20-year-old forward to add to the Bulldogs' attacking stocks.
Youngsters Sam Davies, Josh Ashcroft, Jesse Cunningham, Andrew Emery and Trav Rowley have also impressed.
Cerato said there will be plenty of tough calls to make ahead of Turvey Park's opening round clash against Griffith on April 12 at Maher Oval.
"Our top 30 is pretty even," Cerato said.
"That's going to make it hard at the selection table in a couple of weeks.
"Last year we knew we had about 25 maybe there, so it's a good spot to be in.
"We've got no injuries so that's a big bonus.
"We've got through unscathed and everyone is pretty keen to go."
Prior to the big win over CSU, Lockhart played out an even battle with Hume League club Lockhart.
Cerato's focus now turns to Griffith in round one where stopping the influence of the Swans' towering new ruckman Michael Griffiths will be a key focus.
