But 48-year-old Andrew Dalmazio has admitted he was driving despite not holding a licence for 22 years.
Dalmazio, 48, faced Wagga Local Court this week after being granted bail on December 30 when his father lodged a $5000 cash surety with the court.
Dalmazio, of Liverpool in Sydney, has been charged with unlicensed driving, exceeding the speed limit by more than 20km/h and aggravated littering.
It is alleged that Dalmazio was driving at 148km/h on the Hume Highway at Mundarlo just after 9am on December 29.
Police say that after he was pulled over, Dalmazio flicked a cigarette out his window at a time where there was a high fire danger.
Dalmazio was locked up when a computer search revealed he was wanted for two outstanding warrants following convictions in his absence in the Liverpool and Ballina local courts.
In Wagga Local Court court this week, Dalmazio through his solicitor, PC Reddy, indicated he would lodge applications to have the convictions overturned.
Those matters were adjourned to Liverpool on January 21 and Ballina on January 30.
Delmazio's road trip will then take him to Gundagai on February 3 to defend the speeding and littering charges.
