Only 5.6mm of rainfall was measured at the Wagga Meteorological Office last month, the lowest reading since October 2006 when 3.8mm fell.
It was also the driest November since 1982 (0.2mm), and when combined with above average temperatures, it proved to be a horror month for Riverina producers.
The 5.6mm is 88 per cent below the monthly average of 45.6mm and part of a dry spring, with only 12.6mm recorded in October and 33.8mm in September, only 34 per cent of the average for spring.
Below average rainfall has been a trend throughout the majority of the year, with only two months seeing above average falls.
"We've only had two months of above rainfall, 4mm above the average in May and June was quite a wet month with 97 mm versus the above of 50," Bureau of Meteorology Wagga technical officer Bruce Copplestone said.
Temperatures were 1.4 degrees above the average in November, with November 28 the hottest day (35.9 degrees).
There was some respite from the heat, with the average minimum temperature 1.5 degrees lower in November and 1.7 degrees in October, but that only caused more concern for farmers, with frosts impacting winter crop yields.
"The way the season turned out it was pretty much a double-edged sword where we didn't get the finishing rains necessary for the big crops and the late frosts where pretty devastating," Upper Murray Seeds senior agronomist Don Kirkpatrick said.
"It was a season that could have been everything with how the rain fell in autumn and winter and spring showed some promise, but it stopped about three quarters of the way into September, fizzled out and didn't quite get there unfortunately."
Looking ahead to summer Mr Copplestone said that rainfall looked neutral from December to February, but higher maximum temperatures where expected.
