JUNEE train driver Sean Walsh thought he was talking dirty to a 14-year-old girl on Facebook when he suggested the pair have sex, but unknown to Walsh it was really a secret police operative he was trying to seduce.
Police suspecting that 34-year-old Walsh was involved in child abuse activities conducted a "covert online assessment" of Walsh's activities in 2011.
They started by sending Walsh a Facebook friend request to him in March under the guise of a teenage girl.
Walsh accepted the request and the following month he began "chatting" with an undercover operative, or what police describe as an "assumed online identity".
Agreed facts tendered to Wagga Local Court this week detailed some of the depraved conversations between the pair over a period of time.
Early in the online relationship, the operative writes: me only 14.
At one point, Walsh asks the operative to obtain a MSN address so she can send him pictures of herself.
On July 31 last year, police executed a search warrant on Walsh's home and seized a micro SD card and two laptop computers.
An examination of the card revealed four images of children rated one under the Child Exploitation Tracking Scheme (CETS) children with no sexual activity.
There were two images on one laptop rated one, also.
Examination of the other laptop revealed Facebook chat logs with two girls, believed to be 13 and 14, in 2010.
Walsh talks explicitly with both girls about sex and suggests to the 14-year-old that they have sex.
"I'm only 14, remember," the girl responds.
"I want you now," says Walsh.
Walsh has pleaded guilty to one count of possessing child abuse material and to three counts of using a carriage service to offend.
He will be sentenced in February after the preparation of psychological and pre-sentencing reports.
