While much attention has surrounded the film's A-list cast headlined by renowned Blue Heelers star John Wood, Backyard Ashes will mark the big-screen debut of a number of potential future stars from Wagga.
Watch closely and you're bound to see a number of faces easily recognisable from about town, such as Fitzpatrick's Real Estate director Adam Drummond and entertainer Jamie Way.
Mr Drummond said that although he had no intentions of leaving the real estate business, his role in Backyard Ashes was hopefully just the beginning of a blossoming big screen career.
"There are opportunities that have popped up since this," he said.
"I'll be looking at those."
Mr Way said he was excited to see the film in its finished version, which has been five years in the making.
"It's been great not only to work in that environment and not only working with locals," he said.
"It's good to see something Mark (Grentell) and (Peter) Cox have been cooking up for years finally come to fruition."
He acknowledges it's been a hard slog at times to get the film over the line.
"The story of making the film parallels the film itself," he said.
"It's a real underdog story."
Fellow Wagga-based cast member Stephen Holt, who plays Norm in the film, said that despite shooting the film being hard work, there had been a buzz among the crew throughout.
"I found it so exciting because it kept generating its own energy," he said.
