Yesterday, Superintendent Bob Noble had his first day on the job, replacing David Simmons as Wagga Local Area Commander, which sees him given the responsibility of controlling the resources of Wagga LAC.
"My first couple of weeks will just be getting orientated and familiar with the offices and issues within the region," Superintendent Noble said.
The LAC comprises ten stations, including Ardlethan, Ariah Park, Coolamon, Ganmain, Junee, Lockhart, Tarcutta and The Rock.
Superintendent Noble who transferred from Castlereagh LAC, based in Walgett, said he was interested in an inter-organisational approach to dealing with juvenile crimes.
"I think it's important that everyone does their bit," he said.
"And Wagga seems like it has a strong net of community organisations that work together."
Superintendent Noble welcomed the planned CCTV, which should be functioning in Baylis Street next year as a "deterrent" and strong "investigative tool" for police.
Superintendent Noble is one of a slew of senior police appointments to the city over the coming months.
The city will have a new crime manager to replace Inspector Rod Smith and a new criminal investigations team leader, to replace Detective Sergeant Michael Handley, both of whom will move to the Monaro LAC, based in Queanbeyan.
