THE two Farrer League clubs yet to sign a coach for next season are hoping to snag their men within the week.
The Rock-Yerong Creek and Northern Jets were yesterday both confident of making an announcement in the coming days regarding their leaders for 2014.
Magpies premiership coach Michael Mazzocchi decided mid-year to stand aside at the completion of the 2013 campaign, which ended with a loss to Temora in the grand final last month.
The club has been busy hunting for a new man to take the reins and president John Driscoll yesterday confirmed a signing shouldn’t be too far away.
“We are negotiating with a coach at the moment, one guy in particular,” Driscoll said.
“It’s probably a week away still, it’s a bit up in the air.”
Driscoll was not ready to divulge any details about the mystery man.
Jets president Terry Walker was in the same boat when asked for an update on their coaching hunt.
“Unfortunately I don’t have much news, it’s still a work in progress,” Walker said.
“I’d like to have something finalised by next week.”
The Jets have suffered their first blow of the off-season, with confirmation John Hoey and James Richards have signed with Hume League club Lockhart.
Walker said the club would now need to find a key forward and a small backman to replace the pair.
Driscoll said TRYC has re-signed the majority of its 2013 playing list, with the exception of Albury pair Tom Yates and Casey Hillary.
“We are hoping to get an answer from those boys in two weeks,” Driscoll said.
“We are concentrating on signing a coach first and when we get one, then we look at signing other players.”
Jets, similarly, have been busy re-signing their list for next year.
Meanwhile, Marrar has confirmed the signing of two more players.
Chase Macintosh and Andrew White have joined the Bombers, joining fellow recruits Jarrod Gornall and Shane Macintosh as the latest additions to Langtry Oval.
The Bombers have also re-signed ruck combination Jake Robinson and Shannon Williams.
