The judge has scheduled in August 21, 22 and 23 for them to provide statements after rejecting a waiver for them to give evidence from Australia.
The group has appealed this decision and the Australian government has supported their bid to provide testimony by video or teleconference.
They were previously subpoenaed to return to Peru by July 1 before their trial or be listed as international fugitives under an Interpol red notice.
But they did not attend, hoping their waiver would be accepted.
The friends are wanted in Peru after Lino Rodriguez Vilchez fell to his death at the hotel where they were holidaying, in January, 2012.
Initially the death was treated as a suicide, but six months later the young Australians were accused of his murder.
