GRIFFITH captain-coach Guy Orton has turned his attention to Saturday week's round one clash with Turvey Park after a successful pre-season campaign.
The Swans completed their pre-season preparations with a huge victory over an undermanned Coleambally team last week to continue to build momentum ahead of round one.
The margin ended up at about 100 points after five 15-minute periods but it was the form of new recruits James Kennedy and Richard Malone that pleased Orton most.
Kennedy booted seven goals from a half-forward flank, while Malone impressed particularly when moved from fullback to centre-half-forward.
The Swans have also landed a last-minute recruit that controlled the midfield in the trial.
The club will wait until the paperwork is finalised before announcing the signing.
Orton said the next two weeks will be used to tinker a couple of things before travelling to Wagga to take on Turvey Park on April 13.
"We've got to work on a couple of little things from the (Coleambally) game," Orton said.
"Otherwise we're going to go in with our confidence up.
"The way we've been training and playing it's like the love for footy has come back.
"Sometimes you get towards the end of the year and things drag on but there is a great feeling around the club at the moment."
Andrew Hawkins, John Evans and Kris Duncan missed Griffith's trial victory over Coleambally and will push for selection for round one.
Others to impress in the latest intra-club were James Toscan (five goals) and Dean Crack (four).
Group 20 rugby league star Lance Poka also continued to show improvement as he tries to claim a spot in the first grade team.
Orton said Poka is "determined he will" make a success of his cross-code switch.
Meanwhile, former AFL star Brendon Fevola should be right for Griffith's round two clash against Leeton-Whitton on April 21.
Fevola has signed for a guest appearance for the Swans but is battling a knee injury.
He missed Yarrawonga's round one win last weekend due to suspension but is reportedly a big chance of lining up for the reigning premier against North Albury this week.
"I think Fev's a fairly big chance," Yarrawonga co-coach Chris Kennedy said.
