RIVERINA Football League grand finalist Collingullie-Ashmont-Kapooka has landed a surprise recruitment coup by securing the services of Ag College premiership hero Tim Corcoran.

A tough off-season for recruitment prompted the Demons to search outside the square where it has been able to add the Southern Inland Rugby Union (SIRU) representative back to its list.
Corcoran has been the cornerstone of the all-conquering Ag College team in recent years but has decided on a code switch similar to the likes of Karmichael Hunt and Israel Folau.
Experienced CAK coach Shane Lenon revealed the coup yesterday and said he believes Corcoran will be a great addition to his senior squad.
"He's been training well for a little while now," Lenon said.
"He's a really good bloke and fitted in really good."
Lenon believes Corcoran has what it takes to crack CAK's first grade team.
"I think he'll be a strong half-back flanker type," Lenon said yesterday.
"The hardest thing for blokes that make the switch across is the kicking but (Corcoran's) improving all the time.
“He’s keen as mustard and that’s the main thing.”
Corcoran is the second big name to leave SIRU’s playing ranks for an experiment with Australian football.
Waratahs centre Pat Barrett, another SIRU star has signalled his intentions to play with Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes this year.
The addition of Corcoran will add depth to a Demons team that is considered one of the flag favourites for this year’s RFL competition. Lenon also announced the signature of Henty teenager Jayden Klemke yesterday.
Klemke played 13 games with Henty seniors last year in his first full season out of under 17s.
Lenon expects him to play first grade at Crossroads Oval and slot in across half-forward and through the midfield. The Demons will kick-off their pre-season trial games on Saturday week when it hosts Deniliquin at Crossroads Oval.
Lenon, who hopes to add another recruit or two in coming weeks, is happy with CAK’s pre-season campaign.
“It’s been pretty good, we’ve had a handful of young blokes who have been training really well,” Lenon said.
“Hopefully a couple of them will be able to step up to the mark.
“We’ve had pretty good numbers, too.”
Meanwhile, Farrer League club Northern Jets has retained forward Matt Etchells after he changed his mind about a return to Wagga Tigers this season.
