NORTH Wagga has wrapped up its Farrer League off-season recruitment by snaring two more signatures.
North Shore defender Matt Thomas and Narrandera speedster Sam Longmore have put pen to paper and will play for the Saints in their hunt for a 2013 premiership.
Thomas comes to the club from playing in the AFL Sydney competition and will come off a back flank for the Saints.
Longmore, 19, played a handful of games in Narrandera's 2012 premiership team and was a standout junior at the RFL club.
He is likely to play on a wing or forward flank.
North Wagga coach Nathan Dowdle was rapt with the signatures.
"Those two blokes will be good, we were quite happy to get them," Dowdle said.
"Matt trained with us once and he looked pretty good. His football has improved since he's been playing in Sydney and he looks like he will be very handy.
"Sam is moving to Wagga with his girlfriend and he looks like a promising young player."
Thomas and Longmore join East Wagga-Kooringal defector Mark Adams as North Wagga's off-season pick-ups to replace outgoing Steve Barnes and Dean Ward.
Dowdle has taken the coaching reins at the Saints this season and will be the youngest coach in the Farrer League.
He says his goal for the year is simply to lead the team to a better finish than 2012, when it was bundled out in the first week of finals.
"At the moment our goal is to look for improvement," he said.
"Later in the year, probably halfway through the season, we will reassess our goals and work out where we're at.
"As for now our aim is to have enjoyment in the group and keep getting good numbers at training."
Dowdle is looking forward to working with the club's younger players and has singled out Corey Watt, Jeremy Luff and Troy Curtis as three exciting prospects for the Saints.
North Wagga will play a trial against Turvey Park on March 16 and another against Lockhart on March 22.
