Field was released from prison earlier this month after a $10,000 bail bond was posted in Lismore Local Court on December 18.
The ex-Wagga Brothers captain-coach has been charged over the death of farmer Kelvin Kane in Kingscliff last July.
It is alleged Field and 41-year-old Shaun Fathers were involved in a fight with Mr Kane at Kingscliff Beach Hotel on July 15.
The two men were originally charged with grievous bodily harm but the charges were upgraded after Mr Kane died in hospital.
Mr Field has to report to police every day between 8am and 8pm.
He will appear in court again on January 22.
Field took the Wagga Brother's Group Nine club to two grand finals and built the club to one of the most successful in the region.
