A young and enthusiastic group of 46 players hit the training track on Tuesday night as the Goannas began their quest to climb up the Riverina Football League ladder.
Second-year MCUE coach Nathon Irvin took the group through its paces with senior players Andrew Wild, Jack Killalea, Trent Cohalan and Harry Collins all on the track.
One new face that took part in his first session with MCUE was new recruit Dean Ward from North Wagga.
Ward arrives at the Goannas after a couple of seasons with North Wagga and joins his younger brother Guy at the club.
Guy impressed in his first season with the Goannas last year and gained representative selection, shining in RFL’s win over Black Diamond in Sydney.
The only loss for the Goannas at this stage is defender Geoff Spriggs.
Reece Cohalan and Luke Thompson have both moved to Melbourne for employment but Cohalan has indicated his desire to travel back and play for the Goannas.
Tuesday night’s training session lasted about an hour before a social barbecue was held at Lake Albert.
MCUE has also announced experienced netballer Julie Cornell as the club’s A grade netball coach for the upcoming season.
