SOUTH Wagga Warriors and Turvey Park will get their Wagga softball A grade season off to a delayed start at French Fields tonight.

The game, which was postponed from last week, will start at 6.30pm and may finish under lights.

Both teams are reported to have similar line-ups to last season, with the Warriors looking to reliable performers Jane Kearnes, Nicole Marlow, Shellie Ervine, Renee Cooper and Jacqui Adams to show the way.

Turvey Park is expecting good things from Amanda Gooden, Leah Gilmour, Elizabeth Sisley, Jade Olsen and youngsters, Sarah Stewart and Emma Post.

Regardless of relative ladder positions, these two teams have more often than not had close contests in past seasons, and tonight's encounter promises to yield another even match.

Three games from the second round of the Wagga softball league will be played at French Fields on Saturday.

Turvey Park will back up against Lake Albert Stingers and Blu-Js will play South Wagga Warriors in the other A grade game at the regular time of 5pm.

In the third game at 6.45pm, Kooringal will play Lake Albert Sharks under lights.

Kooringal and Lake Albert started the A grade competition in good style at the weekend.

Kooringal reversed the result of last season's grand final by beating Lake Albert Stingers 5-2 and the Sharks made a fine A grade debut by grabbing a four-all draw with Blu-Js.

Respective starting pitchers Laura Harley (Kooringal) and Amanda Hubbard (Sharks) were in great touch and did well to contain strong batting teams at the weekend.

Despite the first-round draw, the Sharks face an acid test against Kooringal, which is a most experienced and talented team.

Kooringal will be warm favourite and should retain its undefeated start to the A grade season.

The earlier games on Saturday, meantime, are harder to predict.
