Bred by successful trainer Laetitia Hand, the three-year-old has been plagued by wrist injuries and has had only one start in his long but relaxed career.
He finished second last.
But that was more than 12 months ago, and Hand believes her loveable under-achiever is ready for another shot at the track at Sunday's Wagga Greyhound Club meeting.
"He's not really built for racing, he has a bit of trouble with his wrist bones," she said yesterday.
"We thought we would leave him out for 12 months and the idea was to give him time for his wrists to harden up. His bones have matured but I don't run him to train him, I only run him when I think he can do it. Because he's such a lightly raced dog he has problems with muscle soreness and things though too.
"But we'll make the most of him, he's a beautiful dog.
"In the meantime he's just had the run of the backyard."
With complete faith, Hand is hoping Willy Wilso will make the most of box one when he starts in the Simaro Lodge Maiden (400m).
Hand said Willy Wilso has the breeding to be great, but she's happy with him the way he is.
"He's a lovely dog but he's still learning," she said.
"Where he's drawn on Sunday will actually suit him but he'll need a bit of luck.
Hand insists her best chance on Sunday is prominent two-year-old Teasha's Bluboy in Tab 1 Heat 1 (400m), while Wilsonette and Wilsolucky will also feature.
"He's (Teasha's Bluboy) a fair chance in that one, he's my good old boy," she said. "Wilsonette is the girl of the group, she's in a maiden on Sunday. She's drawn box four and she's about the most experienced dog in the field."
