GANMAIN-Grong Grong-Matong produced a giant second-half performance to run out 58-point winners against Narrandera on Saturday at Narrandera Sportsground.
Only one point separated the two teams at the main break but the reigning premier stepped it up a couple of gears in the second half to score a resounding victory.
The Lions kicked 11 goals to three after the break to win, 17.13 (115) to 9.3 (57).
GGGM co-coach Daniel Rankin praised the Lions for their second half effort.
"It was pretty hard early, we battled it out and just kept going," Rankin said.
"We stepped things up after half-time, started going hard at the footy and doing the hard things and that gave us more opportunities."
Rankin said the Lions' attitude to the hard ball was what made the difference at half-time.
"It was exactly that, at half-time it was a good battle but we managed to get on top and win more of the hard ball," Rankin said.
"We had a couple of good quarters to finish up and it was a good way to finish, that's for sure."
GGGM midfielder Mitch Carroll was one of the architects behind the turnaround, producing a big second half to cap off a terrific performance.
Luke Walsh was another to shine for the Lions, playing well off half-back and through the middle.
Christin Macri was strong at full-forward and ended up with six goals.
For Narrandera, Chris Walsh performed well at centre-half-forward.
Dale Hugo was good through the midfield.
