GLENN Noye has coached his last game for North Wagga after officially resigning from the position after yesterday's 142-point loss to Coolamon.

After almost two years in charge of the Saints, Noye stood down from his position of captain-coach yesterday, with non-playing assistant Wayne Blay to take the reins for the remainder of the season.

It has been a tough gig for Noye, who led the club back from a year's recess and into the Riverina Football League for the very first time.

While not winning a game in the season and a half, Noye was instrumental in the club fielding all three grades of football in tough circumstances last year, with his connections at the RAAF bringing plenty of players to the Saints.

Noye said it came to the stage this week where he had simply had enough.

"I need a break more than anything," Noye said.

"It just got to the stage where I was a bit tired."

Noye was adamant there was no hard feelings involved, and will stay at the club in a playing capacity for the remainder of the year.

"I've enjoyed every minute of it," Noye said.

"I've been doing it since 2007 and it wasn't just coaching, a big part of the role was developing the players as well."

Noye believes it was in the best interests of he club going forward that he stood down right away.

"It's got nothing to do with results," Noye said.

"I wasn't going to coach next year anyway and I told the club that very early on in the year.

"I think it was the right thing to do professionally, it gives the club the chance to have a look around for a new coach without treading on any toes, rather than keeping it a secret.

"The club has been fantastic to me, it's a real good footy club and now it gives them the opportunity to go formally start recruiting."

Noye will remain in Wagga for another year but said he will definitely not be coaching anywhere next season.
