GRIFFITH High School is continuing its investigation into the bloody aftermath of a schoolboy rugby union game last week which resulted in a teacher from Mater Dei Catholic College (MDCC) being king-hit.
A Mater Dei teacher, who is co-coach of the under 15 rugby union team, was punched in the head by a Griffith High School student following a Wiburd Shield game at Coro Oval in Griffith last Tuesday.
The incident came when students from both schools started brawling, after the match was called-off early by Griffith-based referee Brian Halse due to escalating on-field violence.
MDCC principal Greg Miller yesterday admitted the matter was ongoing but said he was satisfied with the work being done by Griffith High School.
Last week, Miller would not rule out asking police to open an investigation but he yesterday said no formal complaints had been made.
"To be honest, the matter is being handled between the two schools," Miller said.
"Griffith High School is still investigating the incident and it will not be completed until early next week, from my understanding.
"It is not a matter of the school going to the police, that is up to individuals but to my knowledge, there have been discussions with police but no formal complaints."
It is understood a student from Griffith High School has already been suspended over the incident and further action could be taken when the investigation is completed.
Miller yesterday said he had personally conducted an investigation into the matter with MDCC students and teachers but no student from the Wagga-based school has been suspended.
"I have met with the boys on two separate occasions," Miller said.
"I have also had many discussions with the teachers."
Miller said he was happy to help Griffith High School's investigation.
"I have been quite encouraged by the seriousness Griffith High School has showed to the matter and I think they are doing a great job," Miller said.
