WAGGA cycling legend Barry O'Hagan has not lost his magic.

Two decades after retiring from competitive racing, O'Hagan's team has performed with great distinction in the famous Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycle Classic at the weekend.

With O'Hagan acting as team manager, Albury rider Brendan Washington and Canberra duo Joel Stewart and Mark Williams all finished in the top 20 of the great event on Saturday.

O'Hagan said yesterday Washington had produced one of his best rides to be with the leading bunch for the first 250 kilometres of the race.

"He (Washington) only dropped off in the last bit," O'Hagan said.

"The three of them all rode superbly."

In his heyday O'Hagan was one of Australia's top riders, competing in the most important races on the cycling calendar.

Wagga riders Dan Uden and Simon Haworth, meantime, have consolidated their positions near the top of the A grade standings for the Tour of Two Rivers series.

Haworth and Uden finished second and third behind Cootamundra's Anthony Sleeman in the fourth stage of the tour at Cootamundra on Saturday.

Uden leads the tour, while Haworth is in second spot overall.

Wagga rider Graham Springett won the C grade event at Cootamundra, while fellow-Wagga rider Mark Wilson took out B grade.

In D grade, Cootamundra cyclist David Loutit was successful, but tour leader Mark Schmidt finished second to keep his overall lead.
