Defending only a modest 105, Wagga's bowlers did not give the visitors an inch and restricted the Canberra unit to just 8-80 off its 20 overs.
Todd Francis top scored for the home team with a quickfire 43, while Warren Clunes (3-7) and Greg Elworthy (2-17) were the pick of the Wagga bowlers.
Wagga co-captain Ethan Bartlett described it as a regulation victory as the team strives to make it to the Konica Cup finals series.
"Obviously it's a good thing," Bartlett said.
"That gives us two wins from our first three games which isn't a bad start.
"We've got some hard games coming up now so it's a good lead-up for us."
Apart from Francis, Todd Henderson was the only other Wagga batsman to make double figures with 14.
City and Suburban started the run chase slowly and never looked a live chance of taking the game from Wagga's keeping.
Wagga Cricket Ground has hosted some low-scoring matches in recent weeks and Bartlett knew 105 would take some catching in the Twenty20 format.
"The deck wasn't great and the outfield was slow so we knew we didn't need to get too many," Bartlett said.
"We bowled pretty well, took our chances. It was a good day."
Haydon Page was best for the visitors with 20 and 2-22.
