THE eco-efforts of Wagga residents and businesses will be on show this weekend at a Sustainability Showcase designed to encourage locals to reduce carbon emissions and save energy.Climate Rescue Wagga Inc in conjunction with Wagga City Council will be hosting the event at the Civic Centre on Saturday from 11.00am until 3.00pm.Stephen James from Climate Rescue Wagga said residents should get involved to find out what Riverina community members are doing to build a sustainable Wagga."It is being held to showcase things that are being done in Wagga to improve sustainability in people's homes, and there will be plenty of stalls and demonstrations put on by a range of locals and organisations," he said. There is a plant giveaway, a chance to win a Bokashi Bin, a product designed to improve the composting of food scraps, and demonstrations of energy saving tips. Some of the showcases include, Bicycle Wagga, Landcare projects, Charles Sturt University, TAFE Riverina Institute, Composting and Worm Farming, Biochar, Erin Earth and National Sustainable House Committee.Mr James said although climate change is slowly being understood by Australians, the message could still be bigger and better received."There are experts around the world who actually publish about climate change and about 97 per cent are sure that humans are causing very dangerous climate changes."
