TWO people are facing serious driving charges in what was otherwise a relatively quiet weekend for Wagga.
A 44-year-old man from Tolland was seen driving his Holden Commodore near Bourke Street, allegedly swerving irratically, about 12.20am yesterday.
After being stopped by officers, he was breath-tested and taken to Wagga police station where he allegedly registered a blood alcohol reading of 0.26 five times over the legal limit.
It is believed he has been charged with high-range drink-driving and issued with a court attendance notice.
Earlier, about 7.40pm on Saturday, police stopped a 49-year-old female who was allegedly found to be driving unlicenced.
According to police reports, the offence is the woman's third in just 14 days the first coming on June 20 and the second on June 28.
However, they were the only two serious offences recorded by police at the weekend, the cold and wet weather keeping people indoors and out of trouble.
Meanwhile, near Khancoban, a landslide has blocked both lanes of the Alpine Way, about 20 kilometres south of the M2 Power Station Road.
The incident occurred about 1.50pm on Saturday when a large part of the embankment collapsed onto the road, including a rock that was estimated to weigh more than a tonne.
Tumbarumba Shire Council workers cleared the road to allow traffic past.
The enormous rock, however, remains in the north-bound lane and will require splitting by machinery.
