A MAN is on the run and another is fighting for his life in hospital following a violent incident at Temora.
Police say a 63-year-old man is assisting police with their investigation after he used a car to mow down two men who tried to rob him on Wednesday night.
One of the men, a 33-year-old from Wagga, remains in the intensive care unit at Canberra Hospital where he was airlifted in a critical condition yesterday.
A 28-year-old man was also hit by the Ford Falcon but managed to escape and is believed to be suffering only minor injuries.
A third man, 22, was arrested at the scene.
A NSW Police spokesman said it is alleged the injured men were armed with a knife when they confronted the 63-year-old demanding cash about 10pm.
"A struggle ensued and the man was able to escape to his Ford Falcon parked nearby. In driving away, the Ford has allegedly struck the two men aged 33 and 28," the spokesman said.
"The 33-year-old is in Canberra Hospital and remains in a critical condition."
After driving off, it is understood the 63-year-old man returned and phoned for paramedics who were called to the large green shed with a sign saying "JT Computer Repairs" at 10.15pm.
He was treated for injuries to his head, chest and legs before being rushed to hospital.
The incident on Hakea Street, located in an industrial area on the outskirts of the town, has shocked the community.
Yesterday, Temora mayor Peter Spiers - who isn't even in town - said he has received plenty of calls from worried community members.
"It's a disturbing incident. When a small community like Temora joins the mainstream with something like this, we can only hope police bring the situation under control quickly," he said.
"It's the sort of thing no community likes to hang on their billboard."
