 Riverina betrayed on Base Hospital

Riverina betrayed on Base Hospital

23 Jun, 2010 05:25 PM
DESPAIR has been the most common reaction to news that the NSW government has shelved plans for a full-scale redevelopment of Wagga Base Hospital in favour of a patch-up job but Dr Geoff Pritchard believes the doom and gloom could have a silver lining.

Retired Tumut surgeon Dr Pritchard holds the view that plans for a full redevelopment of the hospital on its current location was short of the mark anyway.

He sees the latest government backflip as a chance to campaign for a new hospital on a greenfields site.

“Looking to the future, Wagga’s going to be a huge focus for health services across the region,” Dr Pritchard said.

See The Daily Advertiser tomorrow for five pages of reports on the latest reaction.

I dont really know why everyone is suprised. When this was announced i thought it was just a publicity stunt to help a failing state government. I would be even more suprised if we got half of that $90m.

I agree Matt. Neither Liberal or Labour governments will give us what we need. We are only country bumpkins out here. Not enough power to sway them, unless we change our voting habits. Look around and do NOT vote for Liberal or Labour. One Nation wants this hospital to happen and wants more for our country side. Not the cities as much. Think about it.

I would rather cut off my own arm then vote for a racist, xenophobic party such as One Nation, no matter what they promise regarding the Hospital.

@ Morrally Bankrupt While everyone is entitled to their opinion Id like to see you justify your statement and show us why One Nation is a racist party. It seems that people like you are quick to label even though you have very limited knowledge about what you are talking about. I am quite happy to discuss this with you, with the media present so you can educate me on your position Craig Hesketh.

Why is do you call them that. They are not racist. If you are referring to comments and history relating to Pauline Hanson, then you are behind the times. They are against immigration because of the lack of infrastructure to support the numbers. As it is, we are struggling with our water supply and not growing enough of our own food. One Nation want to put all that place before building up our population with immigration. Check out the site and the policies before you make such ill informed comments.

I don't agree with bringing large numbers of people into our country especially when our regional areas are struggling to have money spent in areas needed. It's silly. It will only cause more problems with looking after everyone. Spend the money on putting the right infrastructure in place before looking at increasing our population. I'm surprised that Morally Bankrupt would make such a statement regarding One Nation when their policies are straight forward and full of commensense. Maybe you haven't researched the policies sir. Maybe you should look at your own morals before making such a brainless statement.
