PRIME News will soon be broadcast from Canberra rather than its Wagga studios. The expected date for the news move was initially July 1, however this target has not been met and a confirmed date is yet to be announced.John Rudd, Prime Canberra network news editor said there is still a lot of work to be completed in getting the changeover finalised but "the ball is definitely rolling"."We are moving ahead steadily, it is a fairly big operation," he said."We won't hit that date (July 1), but we shouldn't be too far off it."Veteran Prime News presenter, Doug Hogan has worked in the media industry for 36 years, and 28 years of that time has been spent at Prime Wagga. He has been promoted to deputy network news editor in Canberra and will continue his role as a leading Prime anchorman."The live broadcast will finish up after 46 years, but that is a process of the changing faces of media," he said."You will find that there won't be a lot of changes, I will still be on the box and the crew here will stay.""We have been under fire from some people thinking that we won't have the same local content while I'm in Canberra but that won't change."People have trusted me for 28 years, and just because I am leaving town doesn't mean my perception of what's important will change."Mr Rudd said there will be no differences with staff numbers at the Wagga station, and local content will not be affected."It is one of those things that people, understandably, tend to think the worst, but what we are doing is having better quality pictures, better quality sound, and the news gathering force on the ground will remain exactly as it is," he said."And yes, we will still manage to get those late stories in".
