Hospital fete a great success

23 Nov, 2009 11:18 AM
THE Wagga Base Hospital Auxiliary held its second annual spring fete on Saturday and successfully raised $20,000 to purchase three new eye surgery beds for the hospital.

The fete ran from 10am until 3pm on the hospital grounds and pulled a huge crowd of people supporting the cause.

"It was a wonderful day and very well supported," said auxiliary president Rodney Parsons.

"At final count we had raised $20,000 which we will use to buy eye surgery beds.

"They have been on the wish list for a while."

Mr Parsons said for him the highlight on the day was the continuous entertainment for all ages.

"We had very good volunteers there and they all gave their time for free," he said.

"We had a chocolate wheel and a raffle drawn which was popular and raised quite a bit of money."

Music by Blue Illusion, Will O'Neil, and the Jazzos lit up the grounds throughout the day.

Performances by the Southern Cross Dance Academy and the Sweet Charity cast members were also well received.

"It was all great, I especially want to thank the public and all the stall holders as well," Mr Parsons said.

"The money we raise doesn't just go to the patients but also helps out the nurses and staff. It all goes back to the hospital."
