A 29-YEAR-OLD Harden man was arrested yesterday after allegedly breaking into a home and assaulting the male occupant with a hammer.
Police say around 1.30am yesterday morning, the 29-year-old forced entry into the home of a sleeping 44-year-old man in Binalong Street, Harden and assaulted him before fleeing the premises.
Police and ambulance officers attended the scene and the victim was transported to Harden District Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The younger man was arrested at a home in Queen Street and taken to Cootamundra police station for questioning in relation to the offence.
He was subsequently charged with one count each of aggravated break and enter and committing a serious indictable offence.
