THE two inmates who escaped from Mannus Correctional Centre yesterday have been captured by police after a 300km car chase in the Riverina.
Adon Burns, 24 and Stephen Fenwick, 18 escaped the Tumbarumba correctional facility last night and were last seen at the jail about 9.45pm following a security patrol.
Police warned the public not to approach the men and to call triple-0 immediately if they were spotted.
The two men were caught after police spotted a stolen four-wheel-drive on the Olympic Highway at Junee this morning (Saturday).
Officers chased the car to Tarcutta, Wagga and back to Junee, with speeds reaching about 130km/h in the 110km/h zone and twice deployed road spikes.
The escapees continued to drive on shredded tyres before the vehicle got bogged in mud off the Olympic Highway at Junee about 8am.
The two men were placed under arrest and taken to Wagga Police Station where they are assisting with police inquiries.
