City’s new food district

LOVERS of fine dining will soon be flocking to Wagga’s newest food precinct.

The complex, which currently houses Red Rooster and Gloria Jeans, will soon accommodate two new restaurants, with a third planned for the near future.

The three premises have sat vacant for two-and-a-half years but work has commenced to fit-out one restaurant and it is expected work on a second will begin within weeks.

Professional Commercial, Industrial and Industrial Real Estate director Greg Howick confirmed Indian and Italian restaurants would soon be serving the public.

“Been two-and-a-half years since it was build until these two spots were filled,” Mr Howick said.

“The developers have been fussy about the type of tenants they want in there, they’ve had a number of applications they’ve knocked back.

“The emphasis is on having quality outlets rather than filling shops and the developers are absolutely committed to doing it right.”

Mr Howick said there were also plans to develop the vacant land behind the complex.

Village Tandoori is expected to open by the end of the month, while the Italian restaurant, specialising in pizza and pasta, is hopeful of following soon after.
