BEING caught writing fictional child pornography has cost former Wagga youth worker Jacob Bennie his planned career and several years of study as well as placing his year-old marriage under great strain, Wagga Local Court was told yesterday."In his own words, his life has gone to hell in a handbasket," Bennie's legal representative, Chris Murnane, told magistrate Geoff Hiatt.Mr Murnane made the remark in his sentencing submissions for 22-year-old Bennie, who has pleaded guilty to six counts of disseminate/produce child pornography and five counts of using a carriage service to transmit child pornography.Mr Hiatt will sentence Bennie on March 2nd.Bennie was charged late last year after police found evidence on another man's computer of Bennie boasting about assaulting children as young as seven.Mr Murnane said the offences involved Bennie writing about his fantasies, but no child had been harmed."It was all fictional, nothing took place," Mr Murnane said."There was no exploitation of a living child."Police prosecutor, Virginia Morgan, said although no real child was harmed, Bennie had still engaged in conversations about exploiting children as young as seven."This is still a matter that warrants general and specific deterrence," Sergeant Morgan said.
