Adelong Show back on track for success

06 Jul, 2009 12:00 AM
THE Adelong Show Society is safe for another year following its annual general meeting on Thursday night.

John Neyland was re-appointed as president and Wendy Day will bring a fresh face to the position of treasurer.

Outgoing secretary Kristine Mihalich resigned from her post, and is yet to be replaced, but said the meeting was a success.

"I resigned as secretary, but nobody's taken up the position yet," she said.

"In general, it was a pretty good meeting – well attended, and numbers were up from last year."

Despite early concerns that the show would fold if no new volunteers came forward, it seems there are no signs of that happening.

"It would be sad to see it fold but I'm confident there is enough interest to keep it going," Ms Mihalich said.

"We still have strong horse events and the dogs, it's always a big championship show."

Discussions centered on finding judges to help with assessing the competitions.

Different ways to get the pavilion ready for show day were also discussed.
