RURAL Fire Service (RFS) crews were called to a large blaze near Gundagai late yesterday afternoon.The fire broke out at a property on the Burra Road north-east of Gundagai just after 4pm.Ground crews and two aerial units were called in to assist, with the RFS holding serious concerns the fire may spread quickly due to strong winds.By about 7pm last night the fire had destroyed at least 500 hectares of bushland although the RFS were worried houses could be threatened if it continued to spread. The cause of the fire is under investigation however it is believed fallen power lines may have contributed.
